Mrs. Jones is serving as a School Board Member for District two. She brings to the board over 30 years of experience as an educator. Mrs. Elizabeth Jones began her teaching career as a fifth and sixth grade science teacher at CADET (Holy Family School). As a first-year teacher at CADET, she was assigned the position as lead teacher for the summer school reading program.

As a second-year teacher, she joined the Benton County School District as the director of a tutorial reading program. She supervised high school students who tutored elementary students in reading. Elizabeth was employed for three years with the Benton County School System.

After leaving Benton County, she was employed by the Marshall County School District until she retired. She taught special education (eight years), kindergarten (seven years), and sixth grade English/Language Arts (seven years). Every year Mrs. Jones’ sixth grade students scored proficient or advanced on the stated mandated tests. She was named Teacher of the Year for two consecutive years. While employed in the district, Elizabeth also earned a masters degree in k-8 elementary education and became National Board Certified in English/Language Arts. In addition to these accolades, she was also CEO of CHJ Academy, an afterschool tutoring company.

She says her greatest challenge as a teacher was motivating her students to believe in themselves, and her greatest reward was observing them blossom into amazing self-confident students.
