Johnny Loper

Byhalia High School is proud to announce Coach Johnny Loper as the Head Football Coach for the Byhalia Indians.

Coach Loper comes to Byhalia from Northpoint Christian School, where he has been the football coach since 2018.  While a coach’s purpose is to teach and train athletes for the game, Loper is More than a coach. He prides himself in guiding young people to be more than champions on the field. He dedicates himself to helping student athletes be the best versions of themselves, while helping them earn scholarships to colleges and universities. “Coach Loper wants to help students get to the next level. His positive energy and ability to motivate people to be their best is going to great for our students,” said Dr. Carrie Skelton, Superintendent.

In high school, Johnny Loper was a four-sport All Conference athlete. He had outstanding accomplishments in football, leading him to be recruited by Alabama, Jackson State and Mississippi State. But, legendary coach Willie Jeffries ultimately convinced Loper to join his team at South Carolina State University.

In college, Loper earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All Conference honors and kick returner and punt returner. For three years in a row, he was also named Most Valuable Player for his position at Wide Receiver.

After college, from 2000-2004 Loper played professional football with the Memphis Explorers arena football team.

In 2005, Loper decided it was time to hang up his cleats. He combined his love of motivating people to become the best versions of themselves with his love of personal fitness training. He opened Jay Lo Fitness Studios and launched his Jay Lo Fitness Program. His successful program has been featured on several media outlets, and continues to be a major success.

We are extremely excited to have Coach Loper join our staff and we look forward to what is to come for our team, school, and district. We have all the faith that Coach Loper will help #MoveMarshall.
